Debuted at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia in a surprise appearance that divided the room between applause and bafflement. The gold high-tops feature a prominent "T" logo and American flag detailing. Limited to 1,000 pairs, they sold out within hours of going live. A signed pair was later sold on eBay for $9,000; the buyer was subsequently invited to Trump International Golf Club, making it possibly the most expensive golf club membership application in history.

Fashion industry writer Derek Guy described the promotion as "embarrassing." Joe Biden's campaign communications director said it was "the closest [Trump] will get to any Air Force Ones ever again for the rest of his life." Saturday Night Live ran a sketch. The shoes come with extra laces and a Trump superhero charm.

The website notes the shoes are "not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates." The shoes apparently sold themselves.
