Alan Dershowitz
Harvard Law Professor / Attorney · American · Active — denies all allegations
Alan Morton Dershowitz (born September 1, 1938) is a prominent American lawyer and legal scholar, a former professor at Harvard Law School, and one of the most well-known criminal defence attorneys in the United States. He has represented a series of high-profile clients including O.J. Simpson, Mike Tyson, and Jeffrey Epstein.
Dershowitz represented Epstein during the 2006-2008 Florida investigation and played a significant role in negotiating the controversial non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors. His involvement in that negotiation has been the subject of scrutiny in subsequent legal proceedings.
Virginia Giuffre named Dershowitz in a 2015 court filing, alleging she had been trafficked to him by Epstein when she was underage. Dershowitz denied all allegations emphatically, filing counter-allegations and pursuing legal action against individuals who repeated them. He conducted an unusually aggressive and public defence across multiple media platforms.
In 2022 Giuffre withdrew her lawsuit against Dershowitz without any settlement. He subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against her. Dershowitz characterised the withdrawal as a full vindication; Giuffre's legal team disputed that characterisation. Related proceedings have continued.

These allegations appeared in Giuffre's 2015 defamation lawsuit against Maxwell. Giuffre later filed a separate lawsuit against Dershowitz, which she withdrew in 2022, stating she "may have made a mistake" in identifying him.
